The Third Decade Part I

Yes, it's this time of the year again. The only time where you can indulge in as much sweets as you want and no one can say anything about it... As I walked in the casino for the very first time, a man asked for my ID then wished me "Happy birthday".

The best way to celebrate events like this is anything that involves food. First, because my parents have promised me to take me to the casino ever since I turned eighteen, we went along with my sister. To our deception, we learned that the buffet does not open on Mondays and Tuesdays. To be honest, all I have been thinking about that day is the dessert buffet... (sweettooth confession or not)

Raspberry sorbet

Ceasar salad with shaved prosciutto

I know ceasar salad might sound like a basic dish but it was really good. I find most ceasar dressing too creamy. Also, I don't usually eat prosciutto because I find the taste so overwelming. Notice that the portion is so large it could have easily been a main dish.

Scampi in herbed bread crumbs with garlic butter

I took a bit of my rice and I stopped there. It was so tasteless. As for the shrimp with garlic butter sauce, I was pleasantly surprised! The sauce was so delicious. I almost drank it but I restrained myself for the greater good.

Triology de crèmes brûlées

Vanilla, chocolate and maple crème brûlées, a highlight of the night! The chocolate one actually tastes like nutella. We all agreed that the maple one was the best.

Choco-casino

I find this chocolate hazelnut cake too chocolatey and not nutty enough for my liking. Not to mention that we were too busy savoring the crèmes brûlées...

Family picture

To Jason's request, hence the mask.

Later on that same week, my friends brought me to Japon Sushi Bar. We celebrated my nineteenth birthday there as well. We all agreed to eat there again since my friend had some coupons. Our little traditional now.

Lobster salad

Who would think one lobster salad would be so filling? They actually put A LOT of lobster meat.

Spicy oba

My friend's personal favorite speciality entrée. She orders it every single time! Tuna tartare and caviar in a spicy mayonnaise, served on an oba tempura leaf. Deliciously filling.

Green tea friend ice cream

Another must. This is actually my favorite dessert! As soon as we got there, my friend shamelessly shotgunned one to our waitress because the last few times there weren't any left. It's a really good seller. A huge scoop of cold green tea ice cream wrapped into a layer of crispy fried puff pastry. Please take note that normal people usually share this dessert. Our waitress asked us ''one fried ice cream?'' Us: one each please. I think I gained ten pounds only with this. My two guy friends didn't finish theirs... I guess we all know what happened next.

Too beautiful for words

Nice try

Birthday drunkness

Free sake from my uncle! Family business hence the advertising. Also, please ignore my eyes.

Best buddies of life

The cheeks slowly turning red. Asian flush, they say.

Until next time,
